Building a wooden playhouse for the children
For many families with children the garden is used frequently as a playground as we try to encourage our offspring to play outside but also want to know where they are and that they are safe.
Our gardens are becoming full of trampolines and other play equipment such as slides and swings, but an increasingly common sight is a playhouse of some sort. This may be just a moulded plastic one or a more expensive version constructed from wood. If you decide to install a wooden playhouse for the youngsters in the family how easy is it?
The prices of wooden playhouses can range from a few hundred pounds to a few thousand depending upon the size and style. Some are designed to have two levels inside providing more space for children to play whilst others have simply one area for use. Many come with real glass in the windows, but these are made using safety glass in case of breakages.
Some wooden playhouses can be painted, or they can be left with a more natural finish if desired to fit in with other items in the garden such as sheds and fencing. A strong stable base will be needed to erect the playhouse on however a slabbed area of the garden can be used for this purpose.
