Wooden garage doors are here to stay

Many traditional style houses still have wooden doors on the garages and when they need replacing house owners are choosing, instead of a modern alternative, to have wooden garage doors installed. Wooden garage doors have many advantages over doors made from other materials, but for the majority of people it is the appearance of them that is the deciding factor. The doors can be painted if desired which can change the exterior look of the property or if preferred can be left to be natural wood. The style of garage door can be varied, and either be two equally sized side-opening doors or one larger door and a smaller side door for convenience.

Looking after the wooden doors is vital to ensure that they do not deteriorate and begin to cause issues such as swelling and sticking. One of the ways to prevent this happening to your doors is to make sure that the wooden doors are treated with wood treatment on a regular basis, usually annually. The whole of the door needs to be coated including the edges so that the wood is sealed making it impervious to rain, frost and snow. The wood treatment will soak into the garage doors and should prolong the life of the doors.
