Could real wood flooring be right for your property?
The choice of flooring on the market is wide-ranging and so if the flooring in your property needs replacing it will need plenty of thought before you decide what to buy. The main considerations are: How much foot traffic will the area have?
How easy is it to clean the flooring?
Is the flooring hardwearing enough for your family?
In areas that are used often such as hallways it is important to have flooring that is both easy to keep clean and is hardwearing. Real wood flooring, although attractive is not usually hardwearing enough for this area of the property as it can easily get damaged by heels, animal’s claws and other sharp objects. Laminate flooring is much harder wearing and is easy to clean with a spray mop if mud is trodden in during the winter months.
Real wood flooring is better suited to living areas of the home where it gives the feeling of warmth to a room. It can usually be cleaned using a wooden floor cleaner on a mop although it should not be allowed to get too wet as this may damage the surface. Over time the floor may become pitted but the beauty of real wood flooring over veneered flooring is that it can be sanded and oiled to bring it back to its former glory.
