Using timber to create garden furniture

Timber is a fantastic wood that can be used for a number of projects in and outside the home. Garden structures, railway sleepers, fencing and decking have become an integral part of UK garden design. Although we’re not unused to seeing unsettled weather with bouts of rain, the UK homeowner enjoys their garden and the benefits that it can offer by extending their usable living space into the great outdoors. Living in the UK unfortunately means we are prone to long periods of wet weather. When choosing the best timber for outdoor furniture, you should take this into account. The timber you purchase must be able to withstand heavy rainfall and not absorb too much water. If you choose a timber that retains water, your outdoor furniture won’t last as long or be as durable as it could be.

Timber not only makes great garden furniture but also great outbuildings. Over lockdown there was a huge increase in the demand for outbuildings. Some people opted to build an office in which they could work from during the day, whilst kids were being home schooled and others built a bar for times when they wanted the pub atmosphere but the pubs were closed.
