Carry out home maintenance tasks while the sun shines

During the long winter months our homes can take quite a battering from the elements possibly resulting in damage to wooden fencing in the garden, loose or missing tiles on the roof or the guttering becoming blocked by leaves and moss. Rather than waiting for these issues to arise it is a sensible idea, during summer, to carry out some routine home maintenance tasks that could prevent some of the problems that can occur.

Checking the roof is a major challenge if your property is not a bungalow and may require an expert opinion to see if there is any damage that needs rectifying. Although it can be costly to have the roof repaired it is an essential job that once completed will ensure that no rainwater can enter the premises by that route.

Cleaning out the guttering around the property may not seem an important task, but blocked guttering can lead to rainwater overflowing causing damp on interior walls. This will affect the decoration inside the property and result in costly repairs.

Wooden garden fencing often has to withstand high winds during autumn and winter particularly, so replacing old and damaged wooden panels during the summer could prevent the panels blowing down and ending up in neighbours’ gardens.
