Can you install a wooden flooring yourself?

Wooden floor sings are a very popular choice for many home owners. They not only look very modern but are also fairly easy to keep clean. This is perfect if you have pets or children that often forget to take their shoes off when walking through the house. There are several different types of wooden flooring. You can choose solid wood flooring or wood effect such as laminate. Unless you have traditional planks of wood, most modern flooring has a locking system to allow planks to tightly lock together to form the floor. You will also need to buy some edging which will need to go on once you have completed the flooring. Unlike with carpet, with wooden or wood effect floors, the ground needs to be completely level. Ideally it should be boarded out to give a clean flat surface. You may also want to up hard flooring underlay underneath to add that extra protection and also to add insulation.

You can try and do all of this yourself but if you have little or no experience you may struggle and end up having to waste a few strips. It is advisable to get a quote for the fitting first and see whether it is worth the saving.
