How Can You Use Reclaimed Sleepers?

There are many ways to use reclaimed railway sleepers. These are sleepers that have been used on railways and that have since become disused, so they are often put up for sale instead. Many timber merchants offer railways sleepers for sale after they are no longer in use, so they can be used in a number of projects instead. They can add a beautiful rustic look and have plenty of character.

Most often, railway sleepers are used out of doors. They might be used to build furniture, or raised flower beds, or in other general landscaping projects. You can also use them internally, for fireplaces or beams for the home. The only thing is that they may not be structurally sound enough to use them as supporting beams for a home. If you want supporting beams, an architect will usually specify green oak instead – this will shrink, but they’ll allow for it in their plans.
