How to maintain your timber windows
Timber windows can look beautiful and although naturally the wood will provide some protection from the elements, they are usually treated at the factory to give them added layers of protection.
It is important that you maintain your timber window frames in order t ensure that they last as long as possible.
Ideally you should clean them at least two to three times a year. For general cleaning use a soft cloth and water with soap or washing-up liquid but for tougher stains or grease marks you may need to use washing-up liquid with a tiny amount or water or even no water then rinse with clean water afterwards. Try and avoid using glass cleaner on the frames of the windows as this can damage them. You should inspect the coating on the windows every year and if necessary, reapply the micro-porous coat. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly to ensure that the coat is applied in the right way.
If you are unsure how to maintain your windows correctly then you should contact a specialist company who will be able to come out and carry out any repairs or maintenance for you. This will help your timber windows to last for a long time.
